- Led project to reconfigure City’s firewall - moved Library’s public computers to separate DMZ and added VPN capabilities.
- Coordinated connections to 6 remote offices using VPN, wireless point to point, T-1, or fiber as appropriate.
Managed changeover to Active Directory and upgrade to MS Office 2003 including offering user training through a variety of channels. - Initiated and supervised replacement of the Student Information System with an MS-SQL product (CMDS), installation of a Sybase SQL product (Blackbaud) for our Development dept., and replacement of our Library Services software with an Oracle product (EOS).
- Installed MS Exchange and IIS servers to internalize our email and web presence.
- Promoted from Network Administrator after 2 years in a mixed NT/Novell environment. Responsible for server installations, maintenance, backup, and restorations, and network maintenance and expansion.
Planned, organized, and directed technology activities to include enterprise-wide Information Services: centralized records management programs and servers; local and wide area network system support; personal computer (hardware and software) support; telephone support; and internet communications and support including E-commerce.
Website Development
- Developed and maintain Hill Country District Junior Livestock Show website.
- Developed and maintain Verde Hills Kennels, an Australian Shepherd breeder's website.
- Redesigned the City of Kerrville website and implemented a Content Management System, Online bill payment, and e-Government functions.
- Developed the first Schreiner College website. (Note: Although this is still a beautiful site, it has been redesigned numerous times since my first iteration years ago. As much as I'd like to, I can't claim credit for any of the current look and feel. - HW)
